Edwin Schaefer, ND, RN - FNP

Edwin Schaefer ND, RN, FNP is an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) in the Chicago suburbs. He graduated from Rush University with a Doctorate in Nursing in 1997. He has worked in the emergency department for 14 years as a nurse, in administration and as an ENP. He has also worked on ambulances as an EMT/Firefighter for 10 years. Ed has taught at Rush University and currently speaks at many educational offerings including national and state conferences. He has written a chapter on emergency care in Primary Care: The Art and Science of Advanced Practice Nursing, which is due to be released in the summer of 2000.

Ed lives with his wife Laurie and four children. His special professional interests are pre-hospital care, orthopedic and wound care. He really enjoys caring for children and was among the earliest professionals certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He is currently a PALS and ACLS instructor.
