
Margaret A. Fitzgerald, MS, APRN, BC, NP-C, FAANP is the President and Principle Lecturer with Fitzgerald Health Education Associates, Inc., a national provider of NP Board Certification Preparation and ongoing continuing education for NP's. In addition, she is a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, Lawrence, MA where her clinical practice focuses on the primary care of multigeneration Latino families and adults with chronic physical and mental health problems. She also is a Visiting Professor at Simmons College, Boston, MA and the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center Family Practice Residency Program.
Ms. Fitzgerald is the recipient of two national Excellence in Speaking awards as well as a Professional Member of the National Speakers Association. In presentations on clinical pharmacology, assessment and laboratory diagnosis in 39 states and 7 countries, she has provided programs for NPACE, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Heart Association, University of Colorado, the American College of Nurse Practitioners as well as many state NP associations and meetings. Ms. Fitzgerald is a charter fellow in the Fellows of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, recipient of the Outstanding Nurse Award for Clinical Practice by the Merrimac Valley Area Health Education Center and featured as one of the nation's 25 most influential NPs by the Nurse Practitioner Journal. She is the Certification Issues Column Editor for Advance for Nurse Practitioners and a member of the Editorial Board for the Nurse Practitioner Journal and Clinical Excellence for Nurse Practitioners. She is also the former Associate Clinical Editor for Clinical Excellence and the Pharmacology Column editor for The Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Her publications include more than 50 articles, audio and videotape programs, monographs, book chapters, a health assessment text, Concepts and Activities in Health Assessment and a NP review text, Study Guide for the Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination and Practice Preparation. She serves as a Consultant and Guest Faculty for various health-related industries including F. A. Davis, Bristol Myers Squibb, Pfizer, Mosby, Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, Pharmacia, 3M, GlaxoSmithKline, Searle, Sepracor, Ortho-McNeil, Astra Zeneca, Wyeth-Ayerst, Merck, Medical Education Systems, Inc. and Medical Crossfire.
Ms. Fitzgerald is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, National Speakers Association and National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties.
